David Lightman

Bristol based ESPN told Colin Cowherd last week, “You can’t quit, you’re fired.” A few days after it was reported Cowherd was leaving the network – probably for Fox Sports – he got in trouble for making remarks considered disparaging to baseball players from the Dominican Republic.

But in a world where Thomas Jefferson can no longer be one of the Marquis names for Connecticut’s annual Democratic fundraising dinner, Cowherd never stood a chance. The question is: How does this effect his next career move?

Speaking of the Jefferson, Jackson, Bailey Dinner, it was good to see David Lightman’s byline on a piece about the Jefferson-Jackson controversy this weekend. Lightman, the long time Hartford Courant Washington bureau chief, with a weekly word output rivaled only by Susan Campbell, now writes for the McClatchy News Service out of Washington, D.C.

The black car company being sued by the family of former CBS correspondent Bob Simon says Simon was partially responsible for his own death back in February. The legendary 60 Minutes reporter and foreign correspondent was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash. Simon was posthumously honored by Quinnipiac University a few months ago.
